The Creative Writing Network is a not-for-profit online community built for writers of every age, background, and experience level. Whether you've been writing for decades or you just sent your first poem to a friend, you belong here. We're a place to share your work, get real feedback, take on challenges, grow your craft, and cheer each other on. We believe writing is better when it's shared, and that every writer deserves a community worth showing up to.
Who TCWN is for
Writers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. TCWN has a general community for adults and a dedicated Younger Writers section for teens and students. It's a space created specifically for the next generation of writers to develop their voice in a safe, encouraging environment. All writing submitted to the community is classified at the point of submission, so every member can engage with confidence. No matter where you are in your writing life, you'll find your people here.
How Membership Works
TCWN is free to join and it always will be. Basic membership gives you full access to the community: the forum, writing challenges, peer feedback, and everything else that makes TCWN what it is. For members who want to support the community, we offer Emerald Membership at $5 a month. Emerald members enjoy an ad-free experience and a personal portfolio with folders to organize and manage their posted writing. Every member, free or Emerald, participates fully. No one is shut out from any part of the community based on what they can or can't afford.
What You'll Find Here
Writing Challenges: We run two types. Fun Challenges are time-boxed, cohort-style events — jump in, write, have a great time. Advanced Challenges are self-paced and multi-stage, designed for writers who want to push themselves seriously. Completing an Advanced Challenge earns you a certificate and a permanent badge on your profile.
A Points Economy That Rewards Generosity: Earn points by giving feedback, welcoming new members, entering challenges, and building your profile. The more you give to the community, the more you get back.
Recognition Built In: Every member earns milestone badges from day one. Monthly awards celebrate the community's most generous contributors, including a Top Reviewer of the Month who earns a free Emerald membership as their reward.
A Forum and a Member Blog: Connect and discuss in the forum, or publish your writing to your member blog. Both spaces are member-driven and built for ongoing conversation.
